National Convention 2010
The Seshait Alumni Association encourages brothers to attend the annual Alpha Rho Chi convention, as it is the one time a year we can fellowship and conduct business on a national level. We would like a contingent of at least 10 alumni brothers, so save the date! This event is important in building and maintaining the bond between the active chapter and alumni association, as well as strengthening our ties to other associations throughout the country.

The 2010 National Convention will take place in Richmond, VA, March 25-28, 2010. Details will be posted here as they become available.

If you are interested in attending convention this year, please contact us so we can plan appropriately.

National Leadership Conference
It is never too early to start planning to serve as our next official representative! The next conference will take place in the fall of 2010, typically soon after universities return for the fall semester. This dynamic event allows the Grand Council and national appointees to share best practices on organizational matters with both active chapters and alumni associations. The experience will further your individual leadership skills.

Association Programs
The Seshait Alumni Association seeks to advance Alpha Rho Chi’s goal of professionally developing its members for the rigors of the business world. This focus is expressed in a two-prong strategy:

  1. The association is committed to delivering quality training and mentoring to students of Architecture and the allied arts at Florida A&M University. Additionally, alumni brothers are tasked with nurturing brothers of the active chapter.
  2. The association is devoted to developing avenues to enhance alumni growth, including digital resources, sharing of stories, networking, and the advancement of brother-owned businesses.

The executive board believes practitioners who are grounded with a solid foundation in leadership, communication and relationship development are poised to be the preferred talent of the future. Discussions are currently underway to form a professional development committee.

Mentoring
Fostering the professional acumen of an undergraduate brother is an amazing opportunity for alumni brothers to give back. Further, it keeps essential business skills fresh on the mind of the mentor. Student members are hungry for a seasoned eye to examine their résumés, portfolios, and cover letters. Some actives simply need guidance as they work their way through an unfamiliar decision. Alumni brothers’ experience can be leveraged as a member of the mentoring corp.

Networking
The national fraternity offers an extensive network of architects, interior designers, landscape architects and engineers, allowing for alumni to fellowship with like-minded individuals. In the process, brothers can plant seeds for new business ventures or position themselves for new career opportunities. With the Seshait Alumni Association, business owners are encouraged to share information about their company so that they may be added to our database.

Job Fair Participation
Over the years the Seshait Chapter has maintained a critical role in the execution of an annual job fair at the School of Architecture. The scope of the job fair continues to increase and many alumni brothers have supported the chapter’s effort by personally representing their firms on-site. More information about the next job fair, and how you can get involved, will be posted when it becomes available.

The Executive Board will soon announce specific initiatives meant to expand our service to the active chapter, if you would like to be involved in the planning and execution of programs, please contact us. As activities go live information will be added to this section of the site.
